Nothing Bundt Cakes: Chocolate Turtle and History

What’s sweet, tasty, and is more addicting than anything? CAKE- but not just a normal cake; a bundt cake! 1950 was the year that bundt cakes became a thing when the invention of a bundt pan was created, from then on the pans turned into bundt cakes. The origin of a bundt cake comes from Europe, primarily Germany, but the franchise Nothing Bundt Cakes originated in the kitchen home of Dena Tripp and Debbie Shwetz in the year of 1997.

In Las Vegas in the kitchen homes of Dena Tripp and Debbie Shwetz, bundt cakes were being baked for their friends and family, not long after their delicious cakes became a high demand from the people in their neighborhood. Once Dena and Debbie saw how much their friends and neighbors wanted their recipe and cakes they slowly began making the bundt cakes as a side hustle to which it expanded rapidly. Their bundt cakes are now sold in over five hundred different locations including Canada, under the business name, Nothing Bundt Cakes. Here in Caldwell we actually have a Nothing Bundt Cakes! Kimberly and Jim Moye have been running the Caldwell bakery for about three years now and the bakery has been very successful with MANY customers!

Every one or two months there is a special flavored bundtlet featured sold alongside the many other bundlet flavors. For this month the featured flavor is Chocolate Turtle, it is a chocolate bundtlet with caramel and pecans. Aside from the featured flavors the other flavors that are around all year long are Confetti, Carrot, Strawberries and Cream, Lemon, White Chocolate Raspberry, Red Velvet, Classic Vanilla, Snickerdoodle, Chocolate Chocolate Chip, and Gluten-Free Chocolate Chip Cookie. The bakery sells the cakes as individual bundtlets, buntinis (sold by the dozen), 8” cakes, and 10” cakes. They can make towers of the individual bundtlets which can be stacked as one, two, or three. The towers are wrapped in cellophane wrap and tied with a ribbon; the towers can be decorated with a tiny flag, a flower, or message card. Towers are about eight dollars all together. The 8” and 10” cakes can either be put in boxes or decorated with crafts, flags, bows, or flowers; the decorations from the cakes are ten dollars extra. Nothing Bundt Cakes also makes tiered cakes which is an 8” on top of a 10”, the tiered cakes are eighty dollars.

The individual bundtlets are $6 each, our Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookie bundtlet is $6.50, the 8” cakes are $30, the 10” cakes are $40, the Buntinis are $28, and the towers wrapped up range from $8-$10. For our frosting we can give the bundt cakes with regular signature frosting with individual petals, extra frosting with four extra petals, lite drizzle frosting with thin drizzled “petals”, and drizzle frosting with thicker and more clustered drizzled “petals”, we also serve our cakes and bundtlets without frosting, the buntinis’ frosting is just a swirl and there are no other frosting options besides the swirl.

I work at Caldwell’s Nothing Bundt Cakes bakery and I spoke with my boss, Kim Moye, and asked what made her want to join the franchise and run her own business? Kim had said she felt it was a great business and decided to give it a shot and apply to join. Kim had even said that individuals who have applied to be a part of the franchise, but were denied, have come in and spoken about their experience[s] throughout the application process. Kim is more than fortunate to have been accepted and able to run the bakery here in Caldwell. What I admire most about my boss is how positive and kind she is. I definitely feel that is one of the many reasons her and her husband were chosen to be a part of the franchise. With her infectious attitude she never fails to make customers feel welcomed and joyful in the bakery and I think that contributes a lot to our business. I hope that after reading this article you will all visit our local bakery and try Nothing Bundt Cakes’ cakes and enjoy the deliciousness!
