As spring sports continue in full force, the JCHS Boys’ Tennis team is looking to continue their impressive season. Excluding a few cancellations, the season has run smoothly thus far. JCHS’ division, the Colonial division, includes Bloomfield, West Orange, Cedar Grove, and Golda Och (who did not have a team this year).
The roster, captained by Enzo Whetton and Evan Brown, includes Jimmy Quagliana, a sophomore, at first singles, Evan Brown and Enzo Whetton, both juniors, at 2nd and 3rd singles, respectively, followed by Dan McKirby (junior) and Adrian Voca (freshman) at first doubles, and Alan Huang (freshman) and Gilad Shifrin (sophomore) at second doubles. Finishing out the roster is Mat Robson, a junior sub.
On Tuesday, the team was able to earn their 6th division win, sweeping their division and finishing 6-0. In out of division games, the team is 2-2, beating Irvington and Wayne Valley, but dropping two games to West Essex. This puts the squad at an impressive 8-2 in regular season matches.
During the county tournament, JCHS played in West Essex and lost, eliminating themselves from contention. The team looks to rebound at the state tournament as one of the higher seeds in the section. They will have their first match in the tournament on Monday, May 24th.
