Purdue Basketball Dominating

If you follow men’s college basketball, then you have heard of Purdue men’s basketball these past two seasons. Last year Purdue men’s basketball made history for the program going 29-6 overall, and 15-5 in the Big Ten conference. This year they are already 15-2 overall and 4-2 in their conference. They are currently ranked number 2 in the Big Ten conference, right after Wisconsin. Last year they were the number 1 seed in the NCAA tournament.

Purdue is again led by reigning national player of the year, Zach Edey, playing his fourth season at Purdue. Edey averages 22.3 points per game and 10.9 rebounds, as well as 2.9 blocks per game. He’s a 7-foot-4 center who ranks first in offensive rebounding percentage and is a huge component of the Boilermakers.

However, Edey isn’t the only player contributing to their winning season. A trio in Purdue’s back-court includes sophomores Braden Smith and Fletcher Loyer, as well as Southern Illinois grad transfer, Lance Jones. These three have contributed in breaking other team’s offensives and getting Edey the ball, as well as scoring themselves. Smith averages 6.9 assists per game and 12.4 points, with a 48.2% on three’s.

Purdue’s most recent loss, breaking their 7-game win streak, was against Nebraska with a final score of 88-72 on January 9th.

However, the Boilermakers play Indiana, a home-state rival, on January 16th, followed by Iowa on the 20th.
