In the beginning of my senior year I decided to switch my schedule around and join School Publications. That had to be the best decision I made. I think every senior should take School Publications, because it’s such a fun class and you get to talk to people when making the yearbook and take so many pictures. You don’t realize that you need to take hundreds of pictures until you start creating the yearbook. I loved capturing all the pictures and making memories with the people in my class. Seeing the finished yearbook makes me feel so proud because we all put in so much effort to create the yearbook. This class changed my perspective on photography because one picture could mean the world to someone.
Everyone would always tell me that high school flies by and to enjoy every moment. I didn’t believe anyone when they would say that because 2025 felt so far away. But were they right. These four years were the fastest four years ever. It feels so unreal that I’m going to be graduating in less than a month and won’t see most of these people anymore. Advice I would give to incoming freshmen is to capture every moment so you have pictures and videos to look back on. Another thing you learn in high school is who your real friends are and who aren’t your real friends.
Some people may enjoy freshman year and some people may not. Personally, freshman year was rough. It was a big adjustment because it was my first year of normal school since covid. I thought it wasn’t going to get better, and I wasn’t going to enjoy my high school career. There was one class where I was the only freshman and the rest of the kids were seniors. That class is what made me dread coming to school the most because I didn’t know anybody and I did not enjoy it at all. I tried to get out of the class but I couldn’t. That class felt like it was never coming to an end, but it eventually did. Once it was over, I felt a weight lifted off my shoulder. So remember everything comes to an end. My advice is to take at least one class that you enjoy so you can look forward to coming to school.
Overall, I couldn’t have asked for a better high school experience. I’ve made friends, and I’ve lost friends. I’m nervous and excited for the future. I’m so grateful for all the teachers, friends, and my family that have been there for me. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for me.
