Summer break is a time that both students and teachers at JCHS look forward to. Whether it’s going to the beach, spending time with family or hanging out with friends, traveling on vacation, or just relaxing at home, there are a lot of fun things to be done during the 10 weeks we are off of school. All of the teachers at JCHS had different ideas on how to spend their well-deserved vacation from school, and I talked to a few of them to see what their plans were.
Vacation
A lot of the JCHS faculty are looking forward to going on vacation or traveling during summer break. Mr. Rosenthal, teacher of interior decoration and some of the cooking classes, said that he is “excited to be going on vacation to France in July” while Ms. Luberto, teacher of AP Euro, Human Behaviour, and US II will be going on a trip to Curaçao with her family. Many of the teachers will be going a little closer to home and visiting the Jersey shore over the summer. Ms DeSantis, teacher of AP Calc and Algebra II, said that she looks forward to going down the shore and relaxing on the beach after teaching summer school.
Spending Time with Family and Friends
Many of the JCHS faculty will also be looking forward to spending more time with family and friends during the summer. Senora Bergmann, one of the Spanish teachers here at JCHS, said that she is looking forward to “attending the Dance Nationals with my daughters as well as going to the beach with my family.” Ms. Luberto will also be going to a lot of her son’s baseball games.
Hobbies
Without school, teachers will have more time to focus on their favorite hobbies and activities, whether it’s playing golf with their friends like Mr. Rosenthal plans to do, or baking some of her favorite recipes like Ms. Luberto.
Overall, this year’s summer break promises to be both exciting and relaxing for teachers and students.
