Listening to music has always been something that I really enjoy doing. I thought it would be fun to interview 5 JCHS teachers and see what some of their favorites are. 

Mrs. Riggitano 

What is your favorite album?

“The album “Golden Hour” by Kygo would definitely be my favorite,”.  

Which song on the album is your favorite, and why?

“My favorite song on the album is Someday,” Mrs. Riggitano stated. “I like the beat and the message that the album teaches. It talks about how if you’re meant to be around someone, you’ll make your way back to each other someday”. 

Who is your favorite music artist and why?

“My favorite music artist is definitely Taylor Swift. Being an English teacher, I really love how she tells stories in her lyrics, and her Easter eggs help to reveal things, which is a talent many people can’t fathom doing.” 

What is your favorite song by Taylor Swift and why? 

“My favorite song by Taylor Swift would be “Enchanted.” After hearing the piano version of it, I knew I wanted to walk down the aisle to it during my wedding, and I did.” 

Ms. Finnegan

What is your favorite album?

• “Hollywood’s Bleeding” by Post Malone 

Which song on the album is your favorite, and why?

• “My favorite song on the album would be, Staring at the Sun ft Sza. I really like both of these artists and their voices go very well together. It is a very easy song to listen.I feel like there is never a wrong time to play it and it is a very light feeling song.”

Who is your favorite music artist and why?

• “My favorite music Artist is Post Malone. His versatility is definitely one of his strongest suits and all of his albums are branching out to different genres,” 

What is your favorite song by Post Malone and why? 

• “My favorite song by Post Malone is Fall Apart.  It’s from his first album and was part of what got me into listening to him. When I saw him perform it live, it was one of the songs that he performed with the most emotion. Even though it’s a sad song, it’s still really good.” 

Ms. Grace

What is your favorite album?

• “My favorite album is Eternal Sunshine by Ariana Grande. 

Which song on the album is your favorite, and why?

• “On Eternal Sunshine, my favorite song would be “The boy is mine”  ft. Brandy. I think It’s really fun when artists bring in older artists. When I was growing up, my sister really  liked her and it was fun growing up listening to her.”

Who is your favorite music artist and why?

• My favorite music artists are Miley Cyrus or Carly Rae Jepsen. I have loved them since I was a kid, and grew up watching Hannah Montana. It was nice to follow Miley, and watch her grow up, and go through all of the different phases that she had. Her music also has a really good vibe now.”

What is your favorite song by Miley Cyrus and why? 

• “One of my recent favorite songs is “II most wanted” which is a Beyonce song, but Miley sings it with her. My mom really loves that song, so I find myself playing it for her a lot.” 

Ms. McNamara

What is your favorite album?

• “My favorite album is The Rising By Bruce Springsteen,” 

Which song on the album is your favorite, and why?

• “My favorite song on the album is “Waiting on a Sunny Day.” It is about taking a bad day, and trying to find the best in it. It has gotten me through a lot. I listen to it when I’m in a bad mood, or when the day is going bad, and it turns it around in a good way,”.  

Who is your favorite music artist and why?

• “Shaboozey is definitely my favorite music artist. His music is very upbeat and it has a country style in which I enjoy.” 

What is your favorite song by Shaboozey and why? 

• My favorite song by Shaboozey would be “Good News.” I like the beat of it, the beat is higher than his other songs. I also love the combination of pop in the song,”. 

Ms. Sarro

What is your favorite album?

• “My favorite album is Yourself or Someone Like You By Matchbox Twenty.” 

Which song on the album is your favorite, and why?

• “My favorite song on the album is “3 AM.” It’s a feel good song and has a really  good melody,”. 

Who is your favorite music artist and why?

• “My favorite music artist is Stevie Nicks. I really like her vibe and she’s the lead singer in the band Fleetwood Mac, which I love. The TV series, Daisy Jones & The Six was inspired by Fleetwood Mac, and I thought that was really cool.” 

What is your favorite song by her and why

• My Favorite song would definitely be “Dreams.” The song brings back a sense of nostalgia for me. Also, the evolution of TikTok caused the song to resurface and was introduced to a whole new generation of listeners.”
