With the autumn weather already upon us, many people have started ditching the short sleeves and bringing in the layers. Retail stores have had their long sleeves, boots, and jackets out and ready since the beginning of October, but as the chilly weather starts to become constant, it’s a clear sign that fall is in full swing.
On the JCHS campus, fashion is not something that all students prioritize, but the students that do enjoy dressing up during the fall season have mastered the perfect fall outfit. For ladies, Karla Gomez and Sherlynn Aracena both believe that the go-to outfit would be a sweater (baggy preferably) with leggings or a mini skirt, accessorized with either UGGS or leather boots.
For the fashionable men out there, Luke Fierro raved about either a long sleeve waffle weave sweater (or a plain sweater) accompanied with a pair of jeans and Adidas Sambas or UGGs. UGGS are seen to be a staple part of the comfy fall outfit, which has been noticed amongst individuals who do not have an eye for fashion.
Fall fashion isn’t only about the clothes that are being worn because the accessories are what makes the outfit personalized. Ms. Gomez loves to accessorize any and every outfit that she decides to wear, as she also enjoys playing around with different sizes of jewelry. If Ms. Gomez is going to wear a dress or skirt, she swears that she will always be wearing tights because it is something so simple, yet makes the biggest difference.
Karla Gomez, Luke Fierro, and Sherlynn Aracena all agreed that jewelry is a crucial part of any fall outfit. Aracena agrees that silver is the color for the fall due to gold bringing out the warmer tones and representing spring and summer.
As we all know, the air gets a bit more crisp as the sun goes down earlier in the day, so outfits worn in the beginning of fall are a complete contrast from outfits nearing the beginning of winter. One staple piece that is the embodiment of autumn is a leather jacket.
If traveling to New York City (for example), in the fall, there would be different styles of leather jackets ranging from an Aviator jacket to a leather peacoat. Fierro mentioned that during the beginning of fall he enjoys wearing more colors and lighter materials, while towards the end of fall he will wear a Carhartt jacket or a flannel.
ELLE magazine emphasized that “fall has become more than just a season—it’s evolved into a cultural phenomenon.” Overall, autumn is a crucial season in the fashion world because it is a time where individuals can play around with the aesthetic. Being happy with what you are wearing boosts confidence by a landslide.
