This year marks the end for many of our remarkable athletes’ sports careers for the Caldwell Chiefs. One of these such athletes is Brennan Thiemann. Thiemann has had great success as both a soccer player and a track jumping all-star. This young man had an illustrious career wearing Chief blue, and we can expect more great things out of him in the near future. I was fortunate enough to speak with Brennan about his final year as a part of the Chiefs’ track team.
Question: Who are some breakout stars we can expect a lot from this year?
Answer: Some breakout stars to look forward to are TJ Hreniuk, Nick Malzone, and Justin Catrambone. TJ found his speed this year as well as his ability to long jump. Malzone was a surprise because he high jumped a personal best 5’10 and we found out that he can run as well in the sprints. Justin Catrambone is a runner to look forward to in the sprints and 400m.
Q: Do you have any goals for yourself in your senior year?
A: My goal for senior year is to place first in the conference meet in high jump, and get a top three medal in long jump. My other goal is to advance in sectionals and go to groups for high jump. I would like to jump at least 6ft by the end of the season.
Q: Where does this team rank as far as the last three track teams you have been on?
A: Of my four years on the track team I would say that this team by far has the most potential. While my freshman year was the best team that we had, as we won the conference that year, this team has the most young talent and I would say is the second best team that I have been a part of.
Q: Do you plan on competing in college? What college and what events?
A: I am unsure if I will compete in a college, but if I do it will be at Rowan University and I will partake in the high jump, long jump, triple jump, and possibly the 200 and 400.
Q: Any parting words to say about your last season as a Chief?
A: I’m glad to have been a part of this team and I would like to say that I wouldn’t have gotten where I am without my coaches: Coach Joe, Mrs. Martin, and Frank David. They pushed me to my limits and are the reason that I have succeeded.
Brennan has truly left his mark when it comes to being a Chief athlete. Whether he competes or not next year, this young man has proved that talent, charisma, and hard work will get you where you want to be in life. I was lucky to play alongside Brennan Thiemann on the soccer field for the last nine years of my life. I was one of few to experience the work ethic and drive this young man has. Whether on the field, on the track, or building the next Ferrari, Brennan Thiemann has been and will be a success in his life. I wish the Chiefs on the track good luck in the rest of their year. As for Brennan, thank you for being an amazing teammate to all of us and embodying what it means to be a Chief.
