Daisy Jones & the Six Review – A 70s Rock n’ Roll Dream
April 9, 2023
Daisy Jones & The Six was released on Amazon Prime on March 3rd, 2023. The series is set for a 10-Episode schedule, and 3 episodes are released each week. The show is based on the bestselling novel of the same name written by acclaimed author Taylor Jenkins Reid. At the time of writing this, 6 episodes have been released, and the show is only getting better and better with each episode. The show follows a fictional rock band, Daisy Jones & The Six, and the issues they have to overcome. The show’s two protagonists, Daisy Jones and Billy Dunne are in love, but it isn’t that simple. Billy is married and expecting children with his wife, Camila. Therefore, the show follows a Daisy-Billy-Camila love triangle all while the band is in the midst of releasing their debut album, “Aurora.” The question being asked is, “Can love exist in rock’n’roll?”
The first three episodes of the show were released on March 3rd. The episodes introduced all the characters and gave them a background. The episodes were enjoyable and entertaining. Alongside the first 3 episodes, the band’s debut album, “Aurora,” was also released on all streaming platforms. As someone who has read the book in the past, this is exciting news. The album is good and the music sounds just how I imagined it. On March 10th, episodes 4, 5 & 6 were released. These episodes were better than the initial three. The episodes really jumped into the story’s plot and love triangle. The acting in the series is excellent and Riley Keough (Daisy Jones) shines through her immense acting skills. Some changes were made when adapting the book into the show, but no changes were major enough to throw off the overline storyline.
The show does a good job of drawing in viewers, becoming #1 overall on Amazon Prime’s streaming service. Additionally, accompanying merchandise has been made available to purchase via Amazon, this includes clothing, accessories and the vinyl record for Daisy Jones and The Six’s Debut Album. Overall, the series does a great job of capturing the essence of the novel and I would recommend it to anyone who has read the book or has an interest in the topics talked about in the show.
