On May 14 of this year, the popular indie/alternative band Vampire Weekend is set to release their new album. Their new album titled Modern Vampires of the City, this third album promises to be their best yet, leaving fans excited for its debut.
Vampire Weekend, consisting of lead singer and guitarist Ezra Koenig, guitarist and keyboardist Rostam Batmanglij, bassist Chris Baio, and drummer Chris Tomson, formed back in 2006 while studying at New York University together. Only two years later their premiere self titled album sent them in to a frenzy of fame and recognition. Soon, singles like “Oxford Comma” and “A-punk” became extremely popular in the indie music scene. Although the band’s other hits like “Holiday” and “Walcott” have received lots of attention in the past few years, and even were featured on numerous commercials, the public still craves fresh music from this incredibly unique band. A blend of indie and alternative music, Vampire Weekend manages to take sounds and styles from around the world and mold them into a cohesive, rich sound that is entirely their own.
Modern Vampires of The City is long anticipated by the fans of the band. Originally, the new album was intended to drop on May 7, but unforeseen complications with the production process forced the band to postpone the release date a week. The three year wait since their last album, Contra, has left fans starving for more.
Luckily, the ache of waiting was eased when the band decided to release a dual sided single from the Album entitled “Diane Young”/”Step”, earlier this spring. The full album can be preordered on iTunes or the band’s website.
