Nobody likes to spend ridiculous amounts of money for Prom, Project Graduation, or caps and gowns come graduation time, so the class of 2016 came up with an ingenious way to raise money: the Seniors vs Faculty Volleyball Tournament. Who doesn’t love a little friendly competition between classmates and faculty while raising money at the same time? The class of 2016 put together the fundraiser to collect money for these such causes. The guidelines were simple, just get together a group of your friends and classmates or faculty and come up with a creative team theme or attire.
As you walked into the gym, many teams were seen scattered across the gym practicing their volleyball skills for game time. The faculty attempted to dust off the cobwebs and hoped to have a chance against the students.
The games were played to 21 and, as the tournament progressed, they were played to 25. Each game was very intense, and although it was all just for fun, you could feel the tension in the air. Every team was very competitive and wouldn’t go down without a fight. In the end, Ms. Banbor and Her Cats won it all, but everybody in the room benefitted because it helped support the class of 2016. The night was filled with smiles and laughs, with everyone agreeing that it was an all-around good time.
Senior Giana Costanzo exclaimed, “I thought it was a really fun and enjoyable fundraiser. I feel it was a great way to raise money for our class. I also thought it was very kind of the faculty members to play with us and help with our cause.” If you ask anybody there that night it is certain that they enjoyed it. Win or lose, the Seniors vs Faculty Volleyball Tournament was a success and a great way to raise money for the class of 2016.
