As the season begins to wind down, the Caldwell girls basketball have seen their fair share of challenges. Early in the season the Chiefs were off to a strong start; however, they have found it difficult to get wins late in the season. In their last 10 games of the season, the Chiefs suffered 6 losses. A drastic change from their start to the season. The girls were able to tally a win in the state tournament over Morris Tech, but couldn’t get the win in the next round against Hackettstown.
Sophomore Alyssa DeBlasis had an incredible season. She finished the season with 480 points, averaging 18 per game. In addition to scoring, DeBlasis also tallied 25 assists and 148 rebounds. She was also a force on the defensive side of the ball. DeBlasis averaged 3.2 steals per game as well as 1.3 blocks per game. At such a young age, it is incredible that she was able to have such a great season at the varsity level. She, along with the other younger players, have a promising athletic future with the Caldwell girls basketball team.
