Joe Keery, or you may know him as Steve Harringon on Stranger Things, just recently announced the release of his third studio album. Under his musical moniker, Djo (pronounced Joe), the album, titled The Crux is set to release on April 4th, 2025. The artist did however release the lead single “Basic Being Basic” and so far the song has been well received with fans.
Joe grew up in Boston, Massachusetts and actually got his start by performing in high school theater. Keery over the years has become most famous for his work on the hit Netflix series, Stranger Things, where he plays the beloved character Steve Harrington, through which he won a SAG award in 2017 for his outstanding performance. The show will actually be releasing its 5th and final season later this year. However, Joe has also collaborated in other successful projects, like the 2020 horror/comedy film Spree, where he played lead role Kurt Kunkle. Joe also starred in the 2021 film, Free Guy, where he played the character Keys alongside actor Ryan Reynolds. Just recently, Joe starred in the fifth season of the anthology series Fargo, which is based on the 1996 film under the same name. Keery plays Gator Tillman alongside actor Jon Hamm.

Many people may be aware of Djo’s music without even realizing. Keery started his music career back in 2015 when he joined the band Post Animal where he served as a guitarist and vocalist. However Joe would step back in 2019 as a result of his acting career skyrocketing. Prior to this upcoming album, Djo has two studio albums, Twenty Twenty, released in 2019, and Decide, released in 2022 which feature popular songs such as, “Chateau (Feel Alright)”, or “Roddy”. Back around April, 2024, his song from the Decide album, “End of Beginning” blew up on Tik Tok, which hit number one on the Global Spotify Chart, has been streamed 1.5 billion times, was the sixth most streamed song in the world in 2024, and obtained over 60 billion views on Tik Tok. As a result, it has allowed Keery to take his music career to the next level, as he now has 23 million monthly listeners on Spotify. Also to note, the artist was nominated for a 2025 Brit Award, which aired March 1st, under the category of “International Song” for his hit “End of Beginning”.
Along with the new album, Djo has announced his “Back on You World Tour” running from February to June of 2025. The tour is set to cover North America, Europe and Australia. The artist will be joined on the tour with his former band, Post Animal. To start the tour, Joe actually just finished performing at the 2025 Laneway Festival in Sydney, Australia, alongside other headlining performers, like Charli XCX, or Beabadoobee. The artist is also set to perform at Coachella 2025, in April.

As anticipation for The Crux, both the album and accompanying tour promise to be significant highlights in the 2025 music scene.
