As senior year has progressed, seniors find themselves becoming familiar with the term “senioritis.” Senioritis is commonly defined by the lack of motivation and growing urgency to check out mentally. Senioritis affects grades, social life, and overall success which goes far beyond school. Academically, it suggests that you start to skip your assignments or feel uninterested about your grades. While it is extremely tempting to give into senioritis, it is vital to stay determined and driven within your last months of high school. It is important to catch these signs early and act fast to avoid any detrimental consequences to your grades.
Though senioritis mainly influences the behavior of students, it is important to see what the faculty feels about senioritis. Mr. Ryan Smith stated that “The word Senioritis validates seniors for wanting to check out early, but it is understandable because they have done their time here.” This statement truly sums up what seniors feel when senioritis begins to hit. Senioritis requires a mutual understanding from both teachers and students when approaching how to avoid senioritis. Additionally, teachers may try new tactics and new methods to ensure an engaging learning experience for those who feel like checking out. Creating a positive and supportive environment requires both students and teachers helping each other.
Although senioritis may seem incurable, there are plenty of solutions to help prevent the spread of senioritis. Firstly, establishing clear goals allows us to look forward to new achievements as the school year comes to an end! Secondly, staying organized and maintaining a routine provides a sense of confidence and consistency in our actions. Lastly, most importantly seniors and all members of our community should prioritize ourselves and reward ourselves for our hard work. As a community, we can work together to help ourselves and also our peers beat senioritis! These little tactics may not fully solve our challenges, but they definitely help us improve and become the best version of ourselves we can!

Overall, senioritis is hitting the seniors exceptionally hard after midterms. Though seniors find themselves struggling, it is important to remind yourself of all you have accomplished throughout your time in high school. Finding a balance between allowing yourself to relax and completely become indifferent about grades is vital when it comes to fighting senioritis. As our 2025 year is halfway through, it is essential to maintain our good grades with high ambition and expectations for ourselves!
