No, the blue and gold balloon arch wasn’t celebrating the end of midterms; those balloons were there to celebrate something more important than that (yes…hard to believe there’s something more important than the end of midterms)! Those blue and gold balloons were showing off the FBLA colors to celebrate FBLA Week (the most important week of the year of course)!

The week of February 9th to the 15th was proclaimed FBLA Week in West Caldwell by Mayor Joseph Tempesta Jr. During this week the JCHS FBLA Chapter celebrated by dedicating every day of the week to an activity along with a competition between the grades lasting throughout the entire week!
Sunday February 9th officially marked the first day of FBLA week being named Service Sunday. Serving the community is what makes a great business leader and that’s what FBLA teaches. On Service Sunday the week-long critical needs called Bridging the Gap: Critical Needs Drive for the homeless began as students were encouraged to collect items such as hygiene products to bring into school for the week. The drive was extended with a tight race switching from Freshmen to Juniors taking the lead.
Marketing Monday kicked off with students taking their objective tests for when the chapter travels to the State Leadership Conference at Atlantic City in March and a club yearbook picture to close out the day.
CTE Tuesday continued with the critical needs drive and the Virtual Trivia Challenge as another part of the battle of the grades giving all students in school the chance to participate in FBLA fun! Along with that, on Tuesday students competed in the FBLA consumer bowl and won! Congratulations to Josiah Zaki, Luke Szura, Anthony Drollas, Adeline Lammens, and Julian Folch!

There are so many reasons to join FBLA, the benefits are endless with so much to get involved in! Why Wednesday celebrated all these reasons as a “Why FBLA” poster was made and posts on the FBLA instagram on students stories for joining FBLA which can be seen on instagram at @jchs_fbla! Continuing on with the week Thankful Thursday continued with the Battle of the Grades through the trivia and the Critical Needs Drive. Not only this, but in order to show appreciation, the FBLA chapter hosted a Thank You Lunch for the JCHS Custodial Team. They do so much for the chapter and for the whole student body, so thank you to the JCHS Custodial Team for all their hard work and dedication to keeping our school clean and healthy!

It didn’t end there! Friday was Fundraising Friday with the end of the continuation of the critical needs drive.
Overall, FBLA Week was a success with members now preparing for the State Leadership Conference (SLC) in Atlantic City on March 10th to the 13th. I spoke to the Secretary of FBLA Keya Goplani and asked her a few questions as the chapter gets ready. When asked how she is preparing for SLC she said, “The key to being successful in Atlantic City is to practice and make sure you’re prepared.” When asked what her goals were for SLC she said, “My goal for SLC this year is to be prepared for any possible scenarios the judges could ask and hopefully advance to the next round.”
Best of luck to the whole JCHS FBLA Chapter as they get ready for their competitions!
