Caldwell Girls sports are on the rise this 2024 season. As the fall sports have begun, Girls Varsity Soccer and Field Hockey are faced with many upsets and many successes. Both teams are showing resilience, leadership, and determination, guided by strong captains and dedicated coaches.
The Girls Varsity Soccer team, led by captains Avery Molinaro and Juliana Procopio, are having an impressive season with a current record of 7-1. Reflecting on the season so far, Co-Captains Avery and Juliana expressed pride in the team’s ability to hold their leads and remain confident, even in close situations. However, with tougher competition on the horizon, the captains are focused on maintaining their winning mentality to carry them through the rest of the season. In their upcoming games, they will be playing the Mount on October 8th at 6pm. This is predicted to be a major match up, due to Caldwell’s intense season. In the coming weeks, the girls will also play Bloomfield, West Essex and Parsippany Hills.

When asked to pinpoint a moment where everything started to click, the standout moment for the team was during a late practice. “Everyone had great chemistry and gave it their all, and the next day, the chemistry continued and we won our game against Dayton 3-1,” said Junior defender, Tea Fiore. The practice was filled with intensity and good laughs. This bonding has fueled the team’s success, with players like sophomore Addy Keenan stepping up with her relentless work ethic and reliability, and offensive stars junior Mia Rodriguez, sophomore Gabby Moyano, and senior Procopio contributing significant goals.
Many of the players have highlighted the importance of building strong relationships between younger and more experienced players, on and off the field. “Team bonding and inclusion, both in practice and outside of it, have enhanced our chemistry on and off the field,” said Juliana Procopio. The positive energy the captains foster plays a big role in keeping morale high after tough days, as the captains use words of affirmation to keep spirits up. Other players have also advocated for this, specifically pointing out times when the team has been brought together over pasta dinners and bagel breakfasts.
The Girls Varsity Field Hockey team, led by captains Tatumn Lattimer and Ella Pasquarelli, are pushing through a tough season with a current record of 4-7. With six games left in the season, including an upcoming game against Cranford on October 9th, the team is determined to turn things around and finish strong.

As the seasons progress, these hard-working student athletes continue to show what it means to play with heart and determination. Keep a look out for both teams as they look to finish their seasons with success!Gir
