Oh, high school! The amazing memories I have made at JCHS are some of the best of my whole life. I always ask myself, “If my freshman year self could see me now, would she believe what I did with my four years at JCHS?” And the answer would be—most definitely not, she would not believe it. My time at JCHS has truly been so special, and I am so grateful for every single teacher, coach, and administrator that I have met along the way here.
In a way, my high school career did not fully start until my sophomore year. With my freshman year being the year after COVID-19, it was hard for me to get adjusted when I was only coming into school every other day and for only 3 hours.
During my four years of high school, I was able to find myself. I tried so many new things at JCHS like trying out for the cheerleading team my sophomore year. I am someone who usually never wanted to try something new, but seeing how much fun the cheerleading team looked and how welcoming everyone was, I was determined to try out. Making the team and cheering for two years was the best experience I have ever had. I made so many new friends on the team, and I learned so many valuable lessons along the way. Without the support of Ms. Callaghan and Ms. Bergmann I would have never had the courage to keep cheering in high school.
I was able to make so many new friends here at JCHS, but having grown up in town,I was also able to cherish my four years here with some of my first friends. I have been in the same friend group since kindergarten and being able to make so many new memories with them and experience high school altogether was the best thing I could have ever asked for. JCHS truly helped me shape into the best version of myself, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for the upcoming seniors and students here. High school does fly by, and it is not an exaggeration when people use that phrase to describe how fast their four years go by.
As I sit here today writing this, I could not be more grateful for my time here at JCHS. My senior year was truly one of the best years of my life so far, and I can’t wait for the future. My sister is going to be an incoming freshman this fall and everything I have written here is what I have told her about high school. The three most important things I can say to every student at JCHS would be: 1. Cherish every moment. 2. Everything goes by so fast. And, 3. Try new things.
