The JCHS football team had a very successful year this year. With a 10-2 record the team made it to the state tournament with the one seed. The team went on to beat West Side in the first round and went onto the next round against Lodi. There had been a lot of hype around the game because the favored Chiefs were one win away from the state final at Kean University. They went on to beat Lodi and make it all the way to the State Final against the very talented Mountain Lakes. The game was disappointing for the Chiefs and they lost 26-6, but that does not take away from the very successful season that the team had. They defeated many talented opponents such as Cedar Grove and Milburn with the leadership from the seniors. The captains of the team Joe Salter, Joe Galioto, Jack Doctoroff, and Jimmy Stille all can be credited with being the players who lit the fire for this Chiefs team. With some help from the supporting senior cast, including Sean Clarkin, Jack Kinney, Dylan Sorriente, Kyle DiBrita, and Dave Norton, the Chiefs just needed to find a way to win at home and on the road. The team also had great participation from juniors Steve Puzo, Nolan Smith, Jake Zimmerman, and Jack Bowen. These younger players will need to try and duplicate these successes next year and try to win it all. Congratulations to the team on a great season and good luck to the seniors as they move on to the next stage of their lives.
