After the past two amazing seasons, the boys’ tennis team looks to continue their success while moving up into the top division. This new division features state powerhouses, such as Millburn and Newark Academy, who are among the top tennis teams in the state. Millburn, who finished last year number one in the Star Ledger Top 20, won the Essex County Tournament and the Tournament of Champions last year.
Coming off a 15-8 record last year, Caldwell comes into the season, basically, with a new team. The team only has one returning varsity member from last year, junior Chris Lim. Lim, who will be the first singles this year, is joined by five seniors; Keenan Flack, Eric Ma, Jake Travers, Sam Kim, and Brian Knight.
Along with the seniors, hoping make a positive impact to the team is a talented group of sophomores and juniors. Boys’ tennis coach Ron Masson is “optimistic about the people we have seen so far, especially the 10th and 11th graders.” Masson believes that this group of players can have a great season if they work hard and stay focused.
Caldwell opens up its season with a home match against Columbia April 1 at 4 p.m.
