Working feverishly since the beginning of January, the cast of this year’s musical is sure to entertain and thrill all audiences. Those who loved loved “42 Street” – last year’s production – or even this school year’s fall drama “Almost, Maine,” will love “Kiss Me, Kate.” With an array of different songs and dances, it is no wonder that the cast, crew, and pit of the production have been hard at work for three months now. Although all of the songs and dances are sure to hold great success, one of the biggest numbers, “It’s Too Darn Hot,” is rumored to be a showstopper. None of this could be possible without dedication and talent: something the cast is chock full of.

These talented and hardworking kids are directed and choreographed by Mrs. Modero, a welcome addition to the JCHS arts program. Modero started her direction at JCHS with “Wonderful Town” three years ago. Ever since, the productions have gotten better and better. This year, the musical is even further improved with a professional lighting and set designer that will be sure to leave audiences in awe..

It is hard to fathom just how much work goes into the production of a show. Rehearsals will only get more intense with each week, leading up to the infamous Tech Week which requires actors, musicians, and stage crew to stay until well into the evening hours in order to bring you, the audience, a truly fantastic show.

The music is also shaping up to be incredible under the direction of Mr. Modero. The music, unsurprisingly, is an integral part of a musical, making it critical that the actors and musicians are in sync. With the guidance of the Moderos – along with the help of professional musicians scattered throughout the pit – the musical always turns out to be an impressive show for all who attend.

Everyone involved in the show is looking forward to showcasing all their hard work, including junior Nicole Garamella who stated, “It’s finally coming together. I’m excited to be a part of such a great cast, and I look forward to show night.” “Kiss Me, Kate” will run from March 21 to the 24 – students and parents alike should be sure not to miss it, and above all, to support the students who have been putting a tremendous amount of time and effort in to ensure that this production is the best yet.
