2021 Super Bowl Rewind

2021 Super Bowl Rewind

This year the first and fifth seed in the NFL playoffs went face to face in Super Bowl 55. This Super Bowl took place in Tampa, Florida at Raymond James Stadium, home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The first seed Chiefs, led by quarterback Patrick Mahomes, had an outstanding regular season going 14-2. Mahomes, returning off of a superbowl win, was projected to take his team to victory. This was until quarterback Tom Brady of the Buccaneers  stole the show. Tom Brady is known to be extremely successful, and had appeared in 9 Super Bowls prior to this year’s, winning six of them with the New England Patriots. Tom Brady (43) played in his first Super Bowl when Mahomes (25) was in kindergarten. It is incredible to see how far these two successful players have come in their careers. The Buccaneers were the underdog, and no one thought Brady would be able to pull off this win, but nonetheless Brady pulled it off coming away with his 7th Lombardi trophy, winning his 5th Super Bowl MVP.

Mahomes ran for a total of 497 yards behind the line of scrimmage, the most by any quarterback this season. The Bucs intercepted Mahomes twice, sacked him three times, and got to him 10 times in the backfield .

In the first quarter, the first points scored were from Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker who booted a 49 yard field goal putting the Chiefs up 3-0.
