Cross country runs down the competition

The boys and girls cross country teams are having yet another notable year.  After last year which brought great success to both teams they came ready this year to compete for a top spot.   The girls started out strong with an undefeated record of 7 wins and no losses. Senior and Co-captain Lindsay DeMunno said, “We train hard every day to remain undefeated and have hopes of becoming conference champions in our division for the second year in a row.”  DeMunno’s teammate and Co-captain Kim Theobald also has high expectations for the lady Chiefs stating, “Two of our big goals this season were to win our division and our conference again this year. We succeeded in winning our division on Tuesday, October 1. We have our conference championship next Tuesday, October 8, all our focus is on getting the win.” The boys’ team has also endured unbelievable accomplishments this year.  The team has a record of 7 wins and 2 losses which puts them in a prime position to make it to the conference championship in their division.  The team has won tough inter-conference matchups against championship contenders like Newark Academy and Columbia. The captain, Matt Meehan, exclaimed about the recent victories, “We have had some very successful meets so far and everyone has been performing extremely well. I have no doubt that we will close out the season strong.”  You can look forward to hearing great things about the Chiefs as they continue to push their way to the top of the Super Essex Conference.
