Caldwell Boys Basketball Continues Impressive 2018-19 Season

Caldwell Boys Basketball team is having their best winning season in four years, the last being in the 2014-15 season when the Chiefs went 15-10. Currently, the Chiefs have a 16-5 record overall and an 11-2 conference record with a few games remaining in the season. Caldwell’s 16-5 record is enough for first place in the SEC – Freedom division, with the 13-7 Belleville Buccaneers in second place.

When speaking to player Charlie Pierce, he said that “This season is very special. Coach Fess and Coach Edwards have done a great job changing the culture for Caldwell basketball during the past few years. We owe a lot of our teams success to them.” As well, Pierce mentioned the “very talented players including starters who are underclassmen, an overall complete package with Hank Morgan, and a tough big man in Will Raslowsky.”

Over the course of 21 games, Caldwell averages 54.5 points a game and allows 45.4 a game. Caldwell’s highest scoring game came against the Arts Jaguars, where they won 64-51. In addition, Caldwell has had its fair share of defensive showings, by allowing less than fifteen points in two games, both against Technology.

Leading the Chiefs in points is junior, Hank Morgan, with 298 points in nineteen games, averaging 15.7 a game. Morgan also leads the team in three-pointers with 38. Senior, Charlie Pierce, leads the team with 86 field goals, equating to 172 points. Pierce averages 10 points a game throughout his 20 games played. Not only does Pierce lead the team in field goals, but in rebounds, with 11. Let’s keep this momentum going!
