As all of the fall season sports come to an end, it is important to recognize the amazing achievements our sports teams have accomplished this year. The 2025 fall season marks one of JV Girls soccer most successful seasons of all time. With an end of season record of twelve wins, zero losses, and one tie, the team has demonstrated astounding hard work on the field.
This being said, when the girls are off the field is when people can truly see what they bring to the table. The entire team has an astonishing bond with each other that has only grown stronger throughout the duration of the season. Hosting weekly pasta parties, writing letters for each other after school, and doing team bonding exercises at the beginning of each practice has contributed to the bond these girls have developed. On top of that, at the end of each and every practice or game, a toy truck is awarded to the player who demonstrated the hardest work that day. The following day, whoever has the truck from the day before, awards it to another player. This daily tradition has been carried out until the final game of the season, where the player who receives it keeps it until the following year.
The truck award may seem trivial to outsiders. However, in reality the truck symbolizes a sense of appreciation for your fellow teammates. Especially in terms of this fall season, each teammate contributes a unique quality that plays a role in the overall structure of the team as a whole. Whether it is being the hardest worker, being the one who always cheers on your teammates, or bringing the most energy to the team, everyone is notable.
In an end of season message that head coach Mike Teshkoyan wrote to his team, he emotionally writes, “It was my pleasure and honor coaching you all and watching you be yourselves having fun and laughing together each day. Our team was a gift that every coach dreams about.” The JV girls soccer team was lucky enough to make it into the final round of the Essex County tournament. In a dramatic game against West Essex at Livingston High School’s field, they lost with a score of West Essex 2, Caldwell 1. Despite the end result of the game, the girls pushed through up until the very last second.
As soon as the final play was made and the game clock struck 0 seconds, the Caldwell Girls Varsity team ran onto the field embracing their friends on the JV team. The Caldwell Soccer program has shown time and time again how being on a team benefits you. Coach Mike always mentioned throughout the entirety of the season how the best thing you can do in life is to be a part of a team. The girls seemed to truly grasp this concept, even more than they had before, at their last tournament game.
The passion with which the team played was unmatched and with the season coming to an end, the realization that the team will never be the same again is difficult for the girls to deal with, seeing as they have grown so close with each other. Ultimately, the bittersweet end of the 2025 girls JV soccer season has come to a close after months of hardwork, determination, and passion and we cannot wait to see what’s in store for the team next year!
