Corey La Barrie was born in Adelaide, Australia, where he spent most of his childhood. Corey lived with his mom, dad, older sister Jessica, and younger brother Jarrad. At the age of 15, his family packed up and moved to California. He attended San Clemente High School for a few years then switched to Saddleback High School. In high school, La Barrie played on his school’s tennis team, basketball team, Australian football team, and was a huge sports fan in general as stated by Famous Birthdays.
In 2016, Corey decided to join YouTube and rose to fame quickly. La Barrie would document his day to day life and do hilarious pranks on his friends. His most liked video to this day is putting a wheel lock on David Dobrik’s Tesla in 2018. Not only did La Barrie have a personal channel, but he also had one with his best friend and roommate called “Corey & Crawford”, which has over 202,000 subscribers. He also had a smaller channel with his brother Jarrad named “Labarrie Brothers,” but he had not been very active on it since 2018.
Corey became friends with a big group of YouTubers and created a content house with them called the “C4 House.” The other C4 House members consisted of Jc Caylen, Chelsey Amaro, and Crawford Collins.
Unfortunately, on May 10, 2020 which was La Barrie’s 25th birthday, he passed away in a tragic car crash a few blocks from his home. The crash happened in North Hollywood at the corner of Huston Street and Carpenter Avenue around 9:39pm. He was badly injured when the crash originally happened and was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. His friends heard the crash and came running out but coincidentally a few of his friends already happened to be there. Daniel Silva, who was driving the vehicle intoxicated, tried to flee the scene after it happened. Luckily, some of Corey’s friends stopped him before he could get away. The next day, fans started bringing blue things and placing it by the tree that the car crashed into. After Corey’s passing, his family started a GoFundMe page for his memorial service that happened on May 10th of this year. Corey’s family released a statement saying, “We are in the process of making arrangements and will be using these proceeds for a private family memorial, as well a public memorial in Los Angeles at the historical Hollywood Forever Cemetery; where Corey’s supporters will have a place to attend, commemorate and celebrate his life.”
The family of Corey had a beautiful, shiny black marble looking headstone for the young YouTuber, which is located in the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. The headstone is open to the public and has a beautiful tribute from La Barrie’s family.
On May 10th of this year, Corey’s family invited a certain number of fans to come celebrate Corey’s one year anniversary and 26th birthday. They provided ice cream and Chick-Fil-A, since those were two of Corey’s favorite things, but also had a balloon launch where fans could send a message to him. Simon La Barrie, his dad, spoke about Corey’s life along with some of Corey’s friends and brother. Fans who attended also brought thoughtful gifts that they left at his headstone. While the memorial was going on, they filmed some of it for a YouTube video, but also for a documentary which is coming out later this year. Although some of Corey’s friends showed up, his main friend group had a celebration of his life at one of their houses. They also let balloons go with messages to their best friend and got a cake to celebrate his 26th birthday. They also visited places that Corey loved to go to or places they had memories at. Even though it was a hard day, fans stuck together and comforted each other. We know Corey is looking down on us so proud of what we have accomplished and have done to keep his legacy alive.
