Get ready for pumpkin pie, stuffing, cranberry sauce and turkey; Thanksgiving is on the way!  Yet something concerning is also on the way: the second wave of Covid 19, which could possibly lead to another lockdown.  With up to 135,000 cases reported in the United States daily, it is clear that the second wave of Covid-19 is going to impact parties and gatherings; and one main gathering that’s coming up is Thanksgiving.  Due to the rise in cases, it is important to understand that following the COVID-19 guidelines is essential.

With my own personal connection of having a large family, I understand how Thanksgiving is a significant holiday that brings the family together.  For Thanksgiving, I typically visit my extended family and we all gather at one house; with more than 75 people in one house, it’s obvious the gathering had to be cancelled.  While the initial thought of hosting/attending a gathering is: my family does not have Covid-19, a member at the gathering might end up spreading the virus to everyone.  Rather than visiting cousins and friends, my siblings and I innovated and planned on throwing our own at home COVID-19 Thanksgiving party in order to avoid the risk of the virus.  While this is not the most ideal way to celebrate Thanksgiving, it is the safer option this year.  It is clear that due to the overall increase in cases in the United States, Covid-19 is here to stay for a while; and it’s better to be safe than to be sorry.  Happy Thanksgiving, and I hope you all stay safe.  🙂
