Rincon Azteca: Caldwell’s Newest Mexican Restaurant

By: Meghan Tynan

West Caldwell is certainly lacking in good Mexican restaurants. Chipotle is definitely a town favorite, but there have not been many sit-down Mexican restaurants until Rincon Azteca opened! Rincon Azteca opened about two months ago and is located at 669 Bloomfield Ave. There are many delicious items on their menu. One of them is nachos, and there are a bunch of different things offered to go on them such as pollo (chicken), chorizo (mexican sausage), and bistek (steak). They also have a bunch of different options such as tacos, burritos, and soups. The best thing about their menu is that the meals are very affordable—with an order of four tacos starting at $8!

The restaurant is open Monday-Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. On Fridays and Saturdays it’s open from 10am to 10pm and on Sundays from 10 am to 8 pm. One of the things that I enjoyed the most about Rincon Azteca was the staff, a really nice family. They were super sweet to talk to, explaining each dish to me and what was in it so I was sure to get something I would enjoy.  They also had the nicest decorations inside and really gave me the feel of Mexico with the bright colors like red and orange and vivid paintings on the wall. I also thought the food was amazing! It had delicious flavors and tasted fresh. My favorite dish from Rincon Azteca is definitely the pollo (chicken) nachos. I also enjoy their guacamole and chips; it was probably the best guacamole I’ve had in New Jersey. The only issue I had with this restaurant was that parking was hard to find since it is located on Bloomfield Ave, which is such a busy street. Other than that I would highly recommend trying out the new restaurant and supporting the local family business for a date, family dinner, or a simple snack. It’s the perfect place to go!
