North Korea Shoots “Projectiles” Into The Sea

By Ardit D. Ukella

North Korea once again threatens the world with nuclear destruction. Recently, North Korea was caught shooting short ranged “projectiles” into the sea. These projectiles disturbed South Korea, Japan, and the United States, who were all unaware of what these projectiles were and why they were being launched. This is the second time this year North Korea has fired missiles. The first time was when they had shot a missile into space, which some believe to have been Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (IBMs). These missiles have

caused major tensions lately with South Korea, Japan, and the United States. The United Nations reprimanded North Korea for its actions, requiring that all North Korean ships and planes be inspected, prohibiting nations from training nationals and soldiers, and prohibiting the sale of firing arms in North Korea.

Spokesman Hon Lei of China told everyone to stay calm, saying, “We hope the relevant parties can keep cool heads and not take any actions that will escalate tensions.” To the contrary, Japan believed that the missiles were no threat. South Korea thanked the U.N. for their efforts and help protecting them from the North, with South Korean president Park Geun-hye hoping that “The North will abandon its nuclear development program and embark on a path of change, and I will make further efforts for peace and unification of the Korean Peninsula.”
