Fresh Faces for Chiefs Basketball

By Jacob Rogovin

The 2015-2016 Caldwell Chiefs boys basketball team has a lot of new faces. This is to be expected after last year’s team featured 4 seniors in the starting lineup and several on the bench playing key minutes. When senior Brad Banaszynski was asked what this year’s team will look like he responded, “the team this year is very different than last year. First of all, the team is much younger this year than in past years. Since the senior grade only has a total of 3 players the team has a lot sophomores and juniors on the team. Also, there is a big difference in height this year than in the past. This year we are more of a team of guards and have smaller forwards down in the post.”

The keys to success for this year’s team will be senior leadership and adapting to a new style of play. They have a lot of players that haven’t even played a minute of varsity basketball, and some of these players will have to play a lot of big minutes. With the only seniors being Noah Riggs, Austin Scott, and Brad Banaszynski they will be expected to provide leadership and playmaking ability. With a much smaller lineup, the chiefs will be playing a more fast pace game. Adjusting to this new style of play will be a crucial piece in determining how the season goes for the Chiefs.
