Top 3 Most Anticipated Movies of 2015

By: Cameron Michales

Already, this year, tons of films have come out, but there are many that are still to come.  Many franchises are continuing, with films such as Mad Max: Fury Road, The Avengers: Age of Ultron, Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens, Insidious: Chapter 3, Minions, and The Fantastic Four. I am personally excited for many movies that are set to be released this year, including In the Heart of the Sea, Frankenstein, The Peanuts Movie, Terminator: Genisys, and Spectre. Three movies, however, stood above the rest. These are the top three movies that I personally cannot wait to see.

In the number three spot is a sequel that technically is not going to be released to worldwide theaters, but I’m still anticipating it. It looks like graboids have returned to films in Tremors 5: Bloodline. It will star Michael Gross, who has been in the previous four films, and Jamie Kennedy, who I remember most from Scream (1996) and Scream 2 (1997). The series is about underground worm-like creatures (nicknamed graboids) that hear vibrations to hunt. The first and third films took place in a small town called Perfection, Nevada. The fourth one, which is a prequel, takes place in the same town, though it was called Rejection at that time. I can understand why the citizens would want that name to be changed. I like all four of the Tremors movies, with the second one, Tremors 2: Aftershocks (1996), being my personal favorite of the bunch. The series has starred Kevin Bacon, Fred Ward, Christopher Gartin, Helen Shaver, Finn Carter, Ariana Richards, Victor Wong, and Reba McEntire.

In the number two spot is The Walk. I was immediately excited for it after seeing its teaser trailer online. Based on a true story, the movie stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Philippe Petit, the only man to have walked on a tightrope between the twin towers in the 1970s. It also stars Ben Kingsley. It is directed such amazing movies as Back to the Future (1985) and Forrest Gump (1994). It looks incredible.

In the number one spot is Jurassic World. Starring Chris Pratt, Ty Simpkins, and Vincent D’Onoffrio, this sequel will be released on June 12, 2015. The first movie, Jurassic Park (1993), is a movie that I would probably put on a top five list of the greatest movies ever made. That was followed by The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997) and Jurassic Park III (2001). Even if I do not hear good opinions on Jurassic World, I will still be eager to see it because it still looks like it could be a fun movie.
