Now that the Winter Track season is well on its way, it is apparent that the team is very strong. The majority of the team is comprised of young runners with a lot of potential. The two captains for the Boys Team are Mike Pabst and Brennan Thiemann.  Mike has placed in many long distance races. His best time for the mile is 4:48. Pabst runs year round, participating in Spring Track and Cross Country. Brennan secures the medals in the high jump event.

Thiemann has been looking forward to leading the best runners Caldwell has to offer.  When asked about the team’s current success, Thiemann said, “We have a young team but we are getting better every day. We did well at the conference meet, where Michael Pabst, Michael Duca, Justin Jackson, and I medaled for the boys, and Allie Nufrio and Charlyne Burki for the girls. I think that we will have a shot at getting a few people through sectionals and I’m looking forward to it.” Mike Pabst added, “This season is going great. Our team is pretty strong with young runners, which will be great for the future. I hope to be running much faster these next meets and hope to do well at States.”

The Girls Team is mainly young runners as well.  Charlyne Burki, Megan Mahalik, Allie Nufrio, and Tori Pepe are the senior leaders of the team. The younger girls are pulling their weight and are sure to provide Caldwell Track with a bright future. The Girls have had some success so far: Allie Nufrio medaled at a conference meet, placing 4th overall, and Charlyne Burki placed first overall for pole vault. The Girls Team is wrapping up the relay season and the next few meets will be individual events; the athletes will have a chance for individual talent to shine through. Captain Megan Mihalik said, “We have a lot of strong new freshmen. They’re stepping up and reinforcing the team we already have. Natalie Ostrowski is stepping up for long distances, and Amanda Herzig is stepping up in the sprints. Overall we are building up our team for a stronger spring season.”
